The Ottawa Senators have avoided arbitration with forward Mike Hoffman, signing the 26-year-old sniper to a four-year, $20.75-million contract.

Hoffman's deal carries an average annual value of $5,187,500 against the salary cap. He was scheduled for an August 4 arbitration hearing.

Hoffman totalled career highs in goals (29), assists (30), and points (59) with the Senators in 2015-16. The native of Kitchener, Ontario, led all Senators skaters in goals, power-play goals (9), and ranked fourth in power-play points (13).

Ottawa originally selected Hoffman in the fifth round, 130th overall, in the 2009 NHL Draft.

Hoffman has registered 59 goals and 113 points in 186 career games.
