{allcanada} Maple Leafs get forward Rychel from Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets traded forward Kerby Rychel to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday for defenseman Scott Harrington and a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Rychel, 21, split this season between the Blue Jackets and Lake Erie of the American Hockey League. He had two goals and nine points in 32 games for the Blue Jackets, as well as six goals and 27 points in 37 games for Lake Erie. Rychel had six points in 17 playoff games, helping the Monsters win the Calder Cup. He was the Blue Jackets' first-round choice (No. 190) in the 2013 draft.

Harrington had one assist in 15 games with the Maple Leafs this season after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 1, 2015, as part of the trade that sent forward Phil Kessel to Pittsburgh. He also had one goal and three points in 17 games with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

Harrington was selected by the Penguins in the second round (No. 54) of the 2011 NHL Draft. He has one assist in 25 games during parts of two seasons in the League.
