BUFFALO -- Logan Brown won't need any directions when he makes his first visit to Canadian Tire Centre as a member of the Ottawa Senators.
Brown, who was selected by the Senators with the 11th pick in the 2016 NHL Draft after they traded up one spot, has been training with Senators strength and conditioning coach Chris Schwarz in the arena's gym.
Brown, a center for Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League, spends his offseason in Ottawa where his father, Jeff, is the coach and general manager of the Ottawa 67's in the OHL.
Senators general manager Pierre Dorion traded the 12th pick and the 80th pick to the New Jersey Devils for the 11th pick.
"Logan was definitely somebody we had targeted as a staff," Dorion said. "We felt Logan has all the attributes of a top-two-line centerman moving forward. He's a big rangy guy with great skill and playmaking ability and he knows how to play both ends of the rink.
"We just felt to give up a third to get Logan was a no-brainer for us. Not that we knew what New Jersey was going to do, but we just felt this is a player we had targeted, and to give up a third (round pick) to get this player is something we had no problems doing."
Brown, 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, led the Spitfires with 53 assists this season.
Jeff Brown, a native of Ottawa, played 747 games with six teams in the NHL and had 584 points.
Logan Brown said his father's advice going into the draft was to prepare for the worst and be ready to sit and wait.
"It's the greatest time of your life, but it's also the worst hour," he said. "Sitting there with my family was just brutal waiting to get my name called, but when Ottawa called me, nothing has ever felt better.
"Growing up, I kind of always dreamed of being a Senator. It's a dream come true and words can't really describe the feeling right now."
