PANTHERS (44-25-9) at MAPLE LEAFS (28-39-11)
TV: 7:30 p.m. ET; FS-F, TSN4, NHL.TV
Season series: The Florida Panthers have defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in two of three games. Jussi Jokinen had a goal and an assist in the 5-1 win at BB&T Center on Jan. 26. Jokinen scored twice in the 4-1 victory at Air Canada Centre on March 17. Nazem Kadri scored three goals and Connor Brown had three assists in Toronto's 5-2 win in Florida on March 29.
Panthers team scope: Florida, which was idle Sunday, clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs when the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Boston Bruins 6-4. The Panthers, who are two points ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Atlantic Division, qualified for the postseason for the fifth time in their history and first time since 2011-12. Florida rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Saturday, setting a team record with its 44th win of the season. The Panthers' 97 points (44-25-9) are one shy of matching their mark set in 1999-2000.
Maple Leafs team scope: Rookie forward William Nylander had a goal and an assist in Toronto's 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. Nylander, the No. 8 pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, has nine points (five goals, four assists) in the first 18 games of his NHL career. "William's definitely getting there," linemate PA Parenteau told TSN. "He had a little bit of a dip in his play in the last few games maybe, but he's always going to be dangerous. Every time he gets the puck he's dangerous because he skates so well with it." Toronto, 5-5-0 in its past 10 games, is tied with the Edmonton Oilers at the bottom of the NHL with 67 points. The Maple Leafs have played two less games.
