Season series: The Anaheim Ducks have won two games against the Winnipeg Jets. Kevin Bieksa and Rickard Rakell each had a goal and an assist in Anaheim's 4-1 win at Honda Center on Jan. 3. Jakob Silfverberg scored with 58.6 seconds left in overtime to give the Ducks a 3-2 victory at MTS Centre on March 20.
Jets team scope: Mark Scheifele has a seven-game point streak (four goals, six assists). Blake Wheeler has an eight-game point streak (four goals, six assists) and is one game shy of his career-high. Winnipeg starts a three-game road trip. Defenseman Brenden Kichton was recalled from Manitoba of the American Hockey League. Kichton was called up earlier this season but has yet to make his NHL debut. "It's a tough flight in and out to get players in," coach Paul Maurice said of the decision to bring Kichton on the road trip, according to the Jets website. "We want to make sure that we have a healthy body just in case [of injuries]." Forward Brandon Tanev is a possibility to make his NHL debut as well. Maurice has not confirmed a starting goaltender.
Ducks team scope: Defenseman Simon Despres (undisclosed) is cleared to play, coach Bruce Boudreau said, according to the Orange County Register. "To be able to come back on the ice with my teammates means a lot to me," Despres told the team website. "I've went through a lot of injuries this [season], and just to be healthy and playing again is something that has no price, and I appreciate every moment I get to be on the ice." Anaheim plays its home finale having a one-point lead on the Los Angeles Kings for first place in the Pacific Division and a game in hand. Anaheim is 25-10-5 at Honda Center. Silfverberg (two goals, two assists) and Nate Thompson (three goals) each have three-game point streaks. Anaheim signed University of Minnesota-Duluth defenseman Andy Welinski to a two-year entry-level contract on Monday.
