SENATORS (29-27-6) at FLAMES (26-30-4)

TV: 10 p.m. ET; CBC, NHL.TV

Season series: The Ottawa Senators defeated the Calgary Flames 5-4 in a shootout at Canadian Tire Centre on Nov. 28. Kyle Turris had a goal and an assist for the Senators; Mika Zibanejad scored the shootout winner. Flames forward Sam Bennett scored on the power play to tie the game 4-4 with 7:28 remaining in the third period.

Senators team scope: Zibanejad and Turris did not practice Friday but are expected to play. Turris has been nursing a foot injury and saw his ice time reduced in the first two games of this road trip. He played 14:31 against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday and 14:19 against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, a total well below his average ice time of 19:50 this season. Turris does not have a point in 14 games despite playing on the top line with Mike Hoffman and Mark Stone. "He's a veteran player," assistant coach Rick Wamsley told the Senators website. "He wants to play, and right now he's going to play, and hopefully we get past this and he starts to produce and the line starts to produce and he figures out a way to contribute with what he has to offer, with his limitations." Ottawa had a four-game win streak end with a 5-3 loss in Vancouver.

Flames team scope: Defenseman Kris Russell (lower body) could return. Coach Bob Hartley remarked after a 2-1 overtime loss at home to the New York Islanders on Thursday that there is a strong chance Russell will play; he has missed six games. Forward Josh Jooris (healthy scratch), goalie Karri Ramo (knee), defensemen Ladislav Smid (upper body) and Dennis Wideman (suspension) also did not play Thursday. The Flames did not practice on Friday. The loss to the Islanders was their third in a row and sixth of seven. Goalie Joni Ortio has started the past two games, stopping 67 of 71 shots in losses to the Islanders and Los Angeles Kings. "[Ortio] was real, real good," Hartley told the Flames website after the game Thursday. "He's tracking the puck real well and around the net he was making good decisions. He deserved better." Forward Johnny Gaudreau has a six-game point streak (one goal, seven assists).
