The Winnipeg Blue Bombers agreed to a contract extension with defensive back Chris Randle on Friday.

Randle is entering his fifth CFL season and third with the Blue Bombers. Last season, he registered 37 tackles, one interception and one sack in 10 games, before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

In four CFL seasons, he's accumulated 148 defensive tackles, eight interceptions and two sacks.

"Chris Randle is one of our most valuable players, on either side of the football," said Blue Bombers general manager Kyle Walters. "What he brings to the football field, his intensity, athleticism and skill, along with the intangibles that he carries inside our locker room, all of those are hard to find in one individual. He's a key piece of our organization moving forward, and extending his contract is very key for us."

Randle was acquired in a trade with the Calgary Stampeders in 2014.
