{allcanada} Babcock ‘not anxious’ about Reimer aggravating his injury

James Reimer will make his first start of 2016 when the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Los Angeles Kings Thursday.

Reimer has seen action in just two games since Nov. 23 as he dealt with a nagging lower-body injury.

Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock told reporters in L.A. that he's "not anxious" about Reimer potentially re-aggravating his injury.

"Eventually you gotta get playing. Ball's in his court," Babcock said before adding Jonathan Bernier would start Saturday in San Jose.

Babcock also said Antoine Bibeau would remain with the team for the time being in case something happens with Reimer.

"I feel good. I feel ready to go," Reimer explained. "Who knows what's going to transpire throughout the game and whatnot but obviously we've done what we can to prepare."

In 17 appearances this season the 27-year-old is 7-4-4 with an impressive .936 save percentage and 1.97 goals-against average.

After a terrible start to the season and a brief stint with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL, Bernier has come on strong of late as the Maple Leafs starter. He has gone 6-2 in his last eight appearances and made 39 saves Wednesday in a shutout win over the Anaheim Ducks.
