SUNRISE, Fla. -- Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson will look to continue his dominance against his former team Tuesday when they face the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center.
Anderson will make his 12th consecutive start for the Senators and will be looking to improve on his 11-4-1 career record with a 2.08 goals-against average, three shutouts and a .938 save percentage against Florida.
By comparison, the veteran's career GAA is 2.73 and his save percentage is .915.
Anderson, who played for the Panthers from 2006-09, has a home in Coral Springs, approximately 10 minutes away from BB&T Center.
"I enjoy coming back here," Anderson said. "I spend my summers (here), skate in the August skates with these guys. It's just an enjoyable experience for me to be in Florida and come into this building. I have a lot of good memories from when I played. It's a great spot to be."
The Senators are 6-3-2 in their past 11 games but are coming off a 4-1 loss against the New York Rangers on Sunday.
Center Kyle Turris, who is second on the team with 11 goals, will be in the lineup against Florida despite sitting out the morning skate because of what coach Dave Cameron described as a "maintenance day."
Ottawa starts a three-game road trip that continues Thursday against the Tampa Bay Lightning and concludes Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.
Florida is back home after wrapping up a 4-1-0 road trip that concluded with a 4-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils on Sunday.
The loss snapped Florida's season-high five-game winning streak.
"We played as a team," forward Jonathan Huberdeau said about the successful road trip. "Sometimes we've tried to play individually, but there everyone was involved and guys from the third or fourth line helped us win. That's what we need. We need everyone involved. That's what we did on the road trip. It wasn't an easy trip. We played a lot of good teams and we proved that we're a good hockey team and we want to make the playoffs this year."
Florida's top line of Jaromir Jagr, Aleksander Barkov and Huberdeau is expected to be together again after being reunited after the first period against New Jersey on Sunday and being on the ice for both Florida goals.
"They played real well," Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said. "It didn't surprise me. They're a good line. They played a lot of hockey together over the last 40-50 games. They were really good. They worked well together."
The three had played together since Jagr was acquired from the Devils last February before they were split up after a 3-1 loss against the Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 23 that left the Panthers with an 8-9-4 record.
Brandon Pirri played with Jagr and Barkov for five full games before the switch was made Sunday.
A key to the Panthers' recent success has been penalty killing. They haven't allowed a power-play goal in seven games, killing 20 penalties during that span.
"They're more aggressive," Gallant said. "Big saves is key for it also. Your goalie is your best penalty killer. I just think they're playing well, they're working hard. The systems haven't changed, it's just a matter of doing the right things and maybe getting some luck and working hard."
The game against Ottawa opens a two-game homestand for Florida that concludes against the Washington Capitals on Thursday before a four-game road trip that will complete a run of eight straight against Eastern Conference opponents.
