SENATORS (5-4-2) at CANADIENS (11-2-0)
TV: RDS, TSN5, SNE, CITYM
Season series: Montreal Canadiens goalie Mike Condon earned the win against the Ottawa Senators in his first NHL game on Oct. 11. Condon made 20 saves and center Tomas Plekanec scored twice in Montreal's 3-1 victory at Canadian Tire Centre. Center Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored the only goal for Ottawa.
Senators team scope: Forwards Curtis Lazar and Mike Hoffman will return against Montreal. Lazar missed the past three games after sustaining a concussion on a hit by Arizona Coyotes defenseman Zbynek Michalek on Oct. 24. The 20-year-old said after practice Monday that passing the concussion protocol testing was a challenge in itself. "Concussion or not, it's tough to deal with that but I got through that and it's good; good confidence there in doing the battle drills [Monday] and I feel fine," Lazar said in video posted by the Senators website. "I'm able to go out there and play my game." Hoffman missed four games with a groin injury. He will be reunited with center Kyle Turris, but Lazar will be the line's right wing instead of Mark Stone, who will serve the first of a two-game suspension he was assessed Monday for an illegal check to the head of Detroit Red Wings forward Landon Ferraro during Ottawa's 5-3 loss Saturday.
Canadiens team scope: Montreal did not practice Monday. Condon will likely face Ottawa and make his third straight start. With Carey Price sidelined for a week because of a lower-body injury, the 25-year-old started consecutive games for the first time Sunday and made 18 saves in Montreal's 5-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets to become the third Canadiens goalie to win his first four NHL games. "Nothing changes," Condon said Sunday. "I don't want to put too much pressure on myself. It's the same preparation every day and it will be same thing going forward. The more you play, the more comfortable you feel." Hall of Fame goalie Ken Dryden won his first six games in 1970-71, and Wayne Thomas won his first seven in 1972-73. Forward Paul Byron scored shorthanded for a second straight game Sunday, his third since entering the lineup in place of Alexander Semin, who is expected to be a healthy scratch for a fourth straight game.
