{allcanada} Penguins make it five straight, edge Canucks

VANCOUVER -- David Perron scored his first goal of the season, Sidney Crosby got his second and Marc-Andre Fleury made 18 saves in the Pittsburgh Penguins' 3-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Wednesday.

Daniel Sedin scored with 6:01 left to spoil Fleury's bid for a second straight shutout, and Jannik Hansen made it a one-goal game with 1:07 left and goalie Ryan Miller pulled for an extra attacker, but the Penguins (8-4-0) still won their fifth straight game and ended a couple of scoring slumps.

Perron opened the scoring on an early deflection and Crosby, who had been held without a point in nine of the first 11 games, made it 2-0 after a nice power-play pass from Phil Kessel, who had two assists, on a 4-on-3 advantage 7:17 into the third period.

Kessel moved up to the blue line and fed a crisp pass to Crosby at the left edge of the Canucks crease. Crosby quick pulled it across the crease and around Miller before tucking his second goal and sixth point of the season into the open net on the other side.

Eric Fehr scored a shorthanded goal 2:55 later that ended up being the game-winner for Pittsburgh, which has won eight of nine since opening the season with three losses.

Miller made 20 saves for the Canucks, who lost in regulation for the first time in the past six games (3-1-2) and the third time in 13 games this season (6-3-4).

Perron scored the only goal 4:53 into the first period and some nice cycling by the Penguins around the Canucks zone, with Evgeni Malkin opening things up with a nice cross-ice pass to Kessel. He quickly moved it up to the point to Brian Dumoulin for a one-time slap shot that Perron deflected down past the blocker of Miller from the top of the crease.

Fleury kept Pittsburgh ahead by stuffing Bo Horvat in-tight on a shorthanded 2-on-1 play less than a minute later, and made his best saves early when the Canucks pushed early in the second period. He stopped Horvat's shot on a partial breakaway, got enough of Hansen's breakaway shot with his glove to knock it off the post and out, and then dove across to get a piece of an open look from the slot for former Penguins teammate Brandon Sutter.

Fleury got some help from a streaking Penguins penalty kill that came in having killed off 13 straight and surrendered one shot on each of the Canucks' four chances.

Fehr scored his second shorthanded goal of the season on an end to end rush, beating defenseman Yannick Weber before beating Miller 1-on-1.

Daniel Sedin spoiled Fleury's shutout with a double deflection high over the goalie's glove, and Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta bailed out his goalie after he got caught out of his crease playing a puck a few minutes later, blocking Horvat's shot at the empty net.
