Zap2it: What are your thoughts about your "Rookie Blue" character Andy McNally having to deal with fellow cop Marlo Cruz's pregnancy by Andy's now-boyfriend-again, Sam Swarek?
Missy Peregrym: It's a really, really difficult thing to navigate, and finding your place in that is difficult. I really enjoyed figuring that out this season and playing the ups and downs of it, all of it.
Andy spent a lot of time defending Marlo. She risked her career for Marlo by fudging the book so she would keep her job, and she kept a huge secret for her, so for this to happen … Andy doesn't hate Marlo. She doesn't. She actually cares about her, and it's just a really tough scenario where it would be easier to hit her. It's wonderfully messy.
Zap2it: Your outdoor suspense movie "Backcountry," directed by Adam MacDonald (Detective Steve Peck on "Rookie Blue"), has been out for a few months. What are your memories of making it?
Missy Peregrym: That shoot was huge for me. It was one of my best experiences, for a lot of different reasons. It's the most difficult thing I've ever had to do. Every job has been different for me, and maybe it just has to do with the place where I'm at and the challenge of what each thing is.
Adam is one of my greatest friends now because of that experience, and we really hope to work together again. It was great … and I don't want to ever do it again! To me, that is the greatest feeling ever, because I know I didn't leave anything out. And whatever it turns out to be, it turns out to be.
