ST-EUSTACHE, Que. – Scott Steckly may well be one of the hottest cars in NASCAR racing, period.
Steckly swept both ends of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1's recent western swing from the pole, and brought his momentum to Quebec where he captured a third-consecutive pole Saturday in qualifying at Autodrome St-Eustache.
Steckly, of Milverton, Ontario, posted a fast lap of 17.173 seconds (83.853 mph) Saturday in qualifying for the Lucas Oil National 250 presented by Lacroix Tuning. It marked the 16th pole of his career overall, which moved him into a tie with J.R. Fitzpatrick for the series' all-time lead.
History is on Steckly's side for the run of succes to continue later tonight as well. He's won at St-Eustache in each of the two previous seasons, and four times overall.
Alex Labbe, last year's St-Eustache polesitter, qualified second-fastest at 17.277 (83.348). St-Eustache native Kevin Lacroix – making his series' oval debut – ranked third at 17.278 (83.343).
Reigning Canadian Tire Series champion L.P. Dumoulin, Gary Klutt, Joey McColm, Alex Tagliani, Larry Jackson, D.J. Kennington and Mark Dilley brought home the top 10 in the time trial session.
The Lucas Oil National 250 presented by Lacroix Tuning is set to go green at 8 p.m.
