Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada – Defending NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Presented by Mobil 1 champion L.P. Dumoulin is hoping the return to Saskatoon ignites the second half of his season.
Dumoulin led the field in final practice for the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway with a fast lap in his No. 47 WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare Dodge of 14.754 seconds (81.253 mph), edging Scott Steckly's No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge (14.768 / 81.176) and Josten's Rookie of the Year candidate Gary Klutt (14.808 / 80.956) as Dodge swept the top three positions in practice.
Mark Dilley (14.818 / 80.902) and series points leader Jason Hathaway (14.819 / 80.896) rounded out the top five in final practice.
D.J. Kennington, Matthew Scannell, Joey McColm, Alex Tagliani, and James Van Domselaar filled positions six through ten on the speed chart.
Dumoulin, the 2014 winner at ACMS, is currently seventh in the season standings and still searching for his first win of the 2015 campaign.
Scott Steckly, last week's pole award and race winner at Edmonton International Raceway, paced the field in opening practice with a fast lap of 14.866 seconds (80.640 mph). Marc-Antoine Camirand was second fastest, followed by two-time series champion Kennington, who's celebrating his 38th birthday today.
Qualifying is slated for 5:15 p.m. MT, and the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. green flag.
