Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews took the Stanley Cup to his hometown of Winnipeg on Friday for the third time.

Toews surprised kids at the Rehabilitation Centre for Children by playing street hockey with them in the morning before bringing the Cup inside and posing for pictures.

He was scheduled to bring the Cup to the Dakota Community Centre later in the afternoon, as he did after the Blackhawks won the championship in 2010 and 2013, to participate in a question-and-answer session. Winnipeg mayor Brian Bowman was expected to be in attendance.

"This is our home base," Toews told the Winnipeg Sun. "I don't think you can bring the Cup home and not bring it here. It was kind of where my whole hockey career started, and I think there's a different crew of people from all over the city that come by to take part in this little event. So this is a crucial stop and not something we're going to change up any time soon."
