As trade talks continue to heat up with the 2015 NHL Draft right around the corner, teams are showing interest in Vancouver Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa.
Bieksa is entering the final year of his contract that comes with a $4.6-million cap hit, but the veteran blueliner has a no-trade clause.
The team has yet to officially ask Bieksa to waive the clause, despite various reports early Thursday stating otherwise.
The 34-year-old battled injuries last season, missing 22 games and finishing with just 14 points. Bieksa was selected 151st overall by the Canucks in the 2001 draft and has spent his entire professional career with the organization.
Making a decision on what to do with Bieksa isn't the only thing Jim Benning has to ponder. The Canucks GM told reporters Thursday it's likely the team will trade either Eddie Lack or Jacob Markstrom.
