MONTREAL – Canadian David Lemieux is ready for his first shot at a world title.

The power-punching Montreal middleweight (33-2, 31 knockouts) is to face Hassan N'Dam (31-1, 18 KOs) of France for the vacant International Boxing Federation belt on June 20 at the Bell Centre.

"He's a very good boxer who moves well in the ring and who is a pretty complete fighter," said 26-year-old Lemieux. "He won't be an easy opponent, but I'll have all the preparation I need to beat him and I'm very confident."

Lemieux, who has won his last eight fights, is coming off an impressive win in New York in December over Gabriel Rosado.

N'Dam opted to skip a news conference on Wednesday because he was unhappy with his share of the prize money, said promoter Camille Estaphan.

On the undercard, lightweight Dierry Jean (28-1) of Montreal will defend his North American title.
