TORONTO — Michelle Li and Alex Bruce headline the Canadian badminton roster for the Toronto Pan American Games.
Li, from Markham, Ont., won double gold at the Pan Ams four years ago in Guadalajara, Mexico. She won the singles title and took the doubles crown with Toronto's Bruce.
Canada is traditionally a badminton powerhouse at the Pan Ams, winning 43 of the 100 medals awarded in the history of the Games — 16 gold, 16 silver and 11 bronze.
Canada won three gold, a silver and two bronze in Guadalajara.
Phyllis Chan of Vancouver, Andrew D'Souza of Ottawa, Rachel Honderich of Toronto, Adrian Liu of Prince Rupert, B.C., and Derrick Ng and Toby Ng of Richmond, B.C., make up the rest of Canada's team for the July 10-26 Games.
