BOSTON – Defenseman David Schlemko capped his Calgary Flames debut by scoring in the eighth round of a shootout to defeat the Boston Bruins 4-3 at TD Garden on Thursday.

Schlemko was acquired via waivers by the Flames from the Dallas Stars on Sunday.

Josh Jooris also scored in the shootout for the Flames. Patrice Bergeron scored the Bruins' lone shootout goal.

Goaltender Karri Ramo made 34 saves for the Flames (35-25-4), who are 3-2-0 on their seven-game road trip.

The Bruins (31-22-10) had their two-game winning streak end and they have lost seven straight games decided in a shootout. Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask made 29 saves.

Boston scored first for the sixth straight game. Forward Brad Marchand retrieved a loose puck at the right side of the slot, circled the net and beat Ramo with a backhand shot on a wraparound to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 7:46 of the first period. Dougie Hamilton had shot the puck from the right point and Bergeron had tipped it.

Calgary scored on the second of three consecutive power plays in the second half of the first period. Kris Russell's wrist shot from the right circle was knocked down in front and Sean Monahan pounced on the puck and shot it past Rask at 18:49 to tie the score 1-1.

Milan Lucic gave the Bruins their second lead at 2:30 of the second period. Lucic beat Ramo with a one-time from near the right hash mark that put Boston ahead 2-1 after a pass out from below the goal line by Ryan Spooner.

The Flames answered on a goal by Jiri Hudler at 14:26. Hudler capitalized on a rebound off Rask after Mikael Backlund's shot from the right point.

Forward Johnny Gaudreau gave the Flames their first lead of the game at 4:59 of the third period with his first goal in 16 games. Gaudreau sent a wrist shot from the right dot through traffic and past Rask to give Calgary a 3-2 lead.

The Bruins evened the score 3-3 on Loui Eriksson's goal from in front of Ramo at 11:40 of the third. Eriksson settled a rebound and shot it top corner after Carl Soderberg's shot from the high slot was tipped by Chris Kelly.

The Flames continue their road trip Friday in Detroit. Boston hosts the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
