{allcanada} Recalibrated Red Wings seek better results vs. Oilers

DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings (36-17-11) and the Edmonton Oilers (18- 37-11) each will attempt to bounce back from losses Sunday when they play Monday at Joe Louis Arena.

Neither team skated Monday morning.

Detroit lost its second consecutive game when it fell 5-3 to the Boston Bruins on Sunday. The Red Wings were the last team in the NHL this season to not lose two straight in regulation.

The Red Wings haven't been sharp (1-2-0) since acquiring defenseman Marek Zidlicky and forward Erik Cole at NHL Trade Deadline. They were outplayed last Wednesday before pulling off a 2-1 overtime win against the New York Rangers behind 39 saves from goalie Jimmy Howard.

"It's interesting to me; we added depth to our lineup and we play worse," Detroit coach Mike Babcock told MLive.com Sunday after the loss to Boston. "So we obviously got to get that fixed because we haven't been anything close to what we were prior to [the trades].

"Today we didn't compete hard enough. You got to give them credit. They were light years better than us."

Edmonton lost 7-4 at the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday after leading 3-0 in the second period, and didn't have forward Benoit Pouliot because of an illness.

"We used four different wingers in that spot for the first couple of periods," Oilers coach Todd Nelson said after the game. "It does throw things out of whack. Obviously when you've got a guy like [Pouliot], a big, rangy guy that can eat minutes and is very effective, you miss him out of the lineup."

Oilers center Anton Lander could return from a shoulder injury Monday. He has missed seven games.

Here are the projected lineups:
