MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact have released left back Krzysztof Krol.

The MLS club announced Wednesday it mutually agreed with the 28-year-old Polish defender to terminate his contract. Krol signed with Montreal on June 16 and played 12 games last season.

"This move gives us more flexibility with the salary cap and also frees up an international spot," technical director Adam Braz said in a statement.

The club added two left backs in the off-season: Donny Toia from the defunct Chivas USA and Ambroise Oyongo, who has challenged his trade from the New York Red Bulls and has yet to join the team.
