Re: [SurroundSound] Re: SACD ripping offer (Australia)

Bob,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, but I think you were really replying to Mark's post rather than mine!

Because of my hardware set-up, I can't play multi-channel FLACs, so have to convert to DTS FLACs.  My process is (performed by two batch files; salient commands extracted here):

scarletbook.exe" -c -m -i"%1"  – to extract a set of DFFs from the ISO
saracon.exe" -c d2p -r=44100 -f=wav -n=16bit -g=0 -t=!IPATH! %~1  – to generate a multi-channel WAV from each DFF
eac3to.exe" "!NAME!-d2p.wav" "!NAME!.wavs" -down16 -resampleTo44100  – to split the WAVS into 6 mono WAVs for each
WaveGainS.exe" -y -d2 -l !NAME!*.wav  – to scale the WAV sets to a standard volume (equivalent to ReplayGain for stereo files)
Then my batch files sets up the inputs for surcodedts.exe and also runs Sikuli-X to start the DTS conversion and (after conversion ends) close SurCode.
flac.exe" -s --delete-input-file -V -6 "!NAME!.wav" –- to generate a FLAC from each DTS WAV
ren "!NAME!.flac" "!NAME!_s.flac" –- add '_s' to the filename so I know it's a 'scaled' DTS
Tag.exe" --auto --scheme "A\X\T" "!NAME!_s.flac"  – to add artist/title tags

There's a bit more than the above going on in my batch files, but that's the essence of them.  I'm happy to share my batch files if anyone's interested.  And I didn't pay 1000s of dollars for my Weiss Saracon!

Bob, we're having a mild summer here so far - daily maximums only in the mid-20s, but fairly humid (>80%) where I live.  But can't complain compared to what you guys are having! :-)

I wanted to inform you there already are numerous Windows software products that can be used to convert DFF files to FLAC:

DBPOWERAMP has a DSD plugin. Also Saracon is a professional utility which costs 1000s of USD though!
