RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Vancouver Canucks scored three times in the second period, and Ryan Miller made 27 saves for his second shutout in as many nights, in a 3-0 win against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena on Friday.

Miller made 30 saves in a 4-0 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday. It was the first time Miller played on consecutive nights this season.

Kevin Bieksa had two assists for the Canucks (25-15-3).

Vancouver scored at 6:18 of the second period on a Carolina miscue. Justin Faulk fumbled a Vancouver pass in the neutral zone, allowing Derek Dorsett to get a step on him and beat Cam Ward over his glove.

The Canucks pushed the lead to 2-0 on Shawn Matthias's eighth of the season at 12:57. Jannik Hansen chipped the puck into the neutral zone, where Matthias gathered it and skated in alone on Ward before making a deke and finishing on the forehand.

Alexandre Burrows took a stretch pass from Ryan Stanton, got behind the Carolina defense, and scored on a snap shot for a 3-0 lead at 16:49.

Ward, who made 10 saves through two periods, was replaced by Anton Khudobin.

Carolina (14-25-5) outshot Vancouver 12-4 in the first period and held a decisive edge in offensive-zone time. Carolina's best chance came on a Patrick Dwyer wrist shot that leaked through Miller but trickled wide of the right post. Miller also stopped Alexander Semin at close range.

Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner left the game early in the second period after taking a hard, headfirst fall into the end boards. He returned later in the period.

Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis returned to the lineup after missing 22 games with a hip injury.
