Season series: The Tampa Bay Lightning have defeated the Vancouver Canucks in five of the past six games, including a 4-2 win on Oct. 18. Forward Steven Stamkos had two goals and an assist for the Lightning. Defenseman Alexander Edler had two points for the Canucks.

Canucks team scope: Vancouver is 13-6-1 against the Eastern Conference, including three straight wins. The Canucks shut out the Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes in back-to-back games last week and defeated the Florida Panthers 2-1 on Monday. Ryan Miller had his shutout streak ended at 200:45. "It was fun while it lasted," Miller told the Canucks website. "The important thing was to get the two points here and move on to Tampa." Vancouver is 15-7-2 on the road and 3-1-0 on their current five-game road trip. "If you can get as many wins as you can on the road, you're going to have a good result at the end of the season, so we have to make sure we can close this road trip off before the break," forward Derek Dorsett said. Forward Radim Vrbata has five goals in his past nine games.

Lightning team scope: Tampa Bay will try for a sweep of a three-game homestand. The Lightning are 18-4-1 at home this season and have won seven straight games at Amalie Arena. Tampa Bay, which is atop the Atlantic Division, is 8-3-1 against the Western Conference and 5-2-0 against the Pacific Division. "If we do win [Tuesday], it's probably because we had a really good effort," coach John Cooper told the Lightning website. "Vancouver is not a pretender. Those guys have a team and are just cruising through [playing] the East, shutting teams out." Defenseman Matt Carle (abdomen) didn't play Saturday and will miss 6-8 weeks. He is scheduled to have surgery to repair torn adductor muscles in his lower abdomen. Stamkos has seven goals in his past 10 games.
