Montreal Canadiens forward Jiri Sekac will replace Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Pearson as one of six rookies taking part in the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend, the Canadiens announced Tuesday.
The rookies will only compete in the Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday, Jan. 24 (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA SPORTS). Sekac joins Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames, Aaron Ekblad of the Florida Panthers, Filip Forsberg of the Nashville Predators, Mike Hoffman of the Ottawa Senators and Jonathan Drouin of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Sekac has seven goals and 15 points in 34 games.
Pearson sustained a broken leg against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday; Kings assistant general manager Rob Blake told the Los Angeles Times that Pearson had surgery Tuesday with recovery time expected to be three months.
In 42 games this season Pearson has 12 goals and 16 points.
