Bo Horvat will not be returning to the OHL.

Vancouver Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins announced in a team meeting Tuesday morning Horvat will remain with the Canucks past the nine-game threshold, activating the first year of his three-year entry level contract.

The 19-year-old, who will play his ninth game with the Canucks Tuesday, has one goal and three assists through eight games with the team.

Speaking on TSN Radio 1040 Vancouver, Canucks general manager Jim Benning noted the team had ruled out making Horvat availble to the Canadian World Junior team, but will likely wait until closer to December 18 to make their decision.

Horvat was selected by the Canucks with the ninth overall pick in the 2013. The draft pick was acquired from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for goaltender Cory Schneider.

Benning added on 1040 that Canucks defenceman Dan Hamhuis' injury is believed to be day-to-day or week-to-week, but instead force him to miss months. The team is seeking a second opinion.
