Hockey Canada isn't sure whether Connor McDavid will be available for the 2015 World Junior Championship, but they have some other high-end forwards in mind.

"They want Bo Horvat, Curtis Lazar, Anthony Duclair and Joanthan Drouin," Sportsnet's Damien Cox said on Hockey Night in Canada. "That's who they're targeting. Their pitch: 'We only need 17 days'."

According to Cox, Kelowna Rockets owner Bob Hamilton has taken on Bob Nicholson's previous role of persuading NHL teams to allow their eligible players to participate in the tournament.

Horvat, who plays for the Vancouver Canucks has one point in seven games with the Vancouver Canucks this season. He scored his first career NHL goal earlier in the week.

Drouin, selected third overall in the 2013 NHL Draft, has registered nine points (one goal, eight assists) in a secondary role with the Lightning, while Lazar has six points in 15 games with the Ottawa Senators. Duclair, 19, has one goal and six assists in 14 games this season with the New York Rangers.
