Toronto Maple Leafs forwards Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak will not play Friday against the Detroit Red Wings because of lower-body injuries, Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said according to TSN.

Kessel left practice early Thursday with what Carlyle called soreness. The (Toronto) Globe and Mail reported Carlyle said Friday that Kessel has "general soreness."

Carlyle also said defenseman Stephane Robidas will make his preseason debut Friday.

Robidas has not played since April 21, when he sustained a broken right leg playing for the Anaheim Ducks in Game 3 of the Western Conference First Round series against the Dallas Stars. Robidas had missed four months earlier last season when he sustained a broken right leg while playing for the Stars.

The 37-year-old defenseman signed a three-year contract with the Maple Leafs on July 1.
