The Montreal Alouettes will be without one of their key offensive contributors for the stretch run.

The team announced RB Brandon Whitaker has been placed on the six-game injured list with a foot injury.

Whitaker injured his left foot during an off-field workout earlier this week and while the team announced he won't require surgery, Whitaker will still be out for a significant amount of time.

The six-year CFL veteran is second in league rushing with 764 yards, behind only Calgary's Jon Cornish. Whitaker also has 274 receiving yards on the season.
