The Hangover Part III / Nothing Was the Same - Drake
Following Toronto FC's 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire, midfielder Michael Bradley expressed his displeasure with the skill level of the referee assigned to the game.
"It's not the first time we've had (referee David Gantar) this year," said Bradley following the match. "He's just not good enough."
"They continue to assign Canadian referees when an American team is playing a Canadian team and it's obvious these guys are going to make a conscious effort to show they aren't being biased one way or the other."
At issue among other things, is a stoppage time foul called against striker Gilberto in the offensive box that ruled out a goal that would have given Toronto FC the victory and three badly needed points in the playoff chase.
"We're fighting for our lives," said Bradley. "When you see how much every guy puts into it and the performance over the course of 90 minutes, to have two points taken from you is just not good enough."
"They put referees out there that are in over their head, they ruin games. The totally decide the outcome of games."
The draw leaves Toronto FC three points out of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
"All you want to do is speak to him at the end and get a little bit of an explanation and you get nothing, they can't even look at you," said Bradley.
"You get to this part of the season every game means so much and to have the outcome of a game totally decided by the referee, by a phantom call in the 93rd minute is a joke."
"From the second the game started I saw a team that fought hard to walk out of here with a result and we did and we should have walked out of here with three."
