{allcanada} STROMAN'S SUSPENSION REDUCED TO FIVE GAMES; STARTS SUNDAY

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marcus Stroman's suspension for throwing at Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph has been reduced from six games to five. The rookie will begin serving the suspension on Sunday.

Because he appealed his suspension, Stroman started and got the 6-3 win over the New York Yankees on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the sixth inning of a Sept. 15, 5-2 loss in Baltimore. An inning after teammate Jose Reyes felt that Joseph went out of his way to step on his leg during a play at the plate, Stroman's first offering to Joseph whizzed behind the batter's head.

With the Orioles bench incensed, both teams were warned by home-plate umpire Ted Barrett.

Stroman, 23, is 11-6 in his rookie campaign with a 3.77 ERA. He will now miss his scheduled start on Thursday against the Seattle Mariners.
