Toronto FC held on to Jermain Defoe earlier this month in the wake of firing manager Ryan Nelsen, but it appears the striker isn't long for the team.
The latest report comes from The Daily Mail in the UK and states Defoe will soon begin negotiations to end his contract with Toronto FC before the January transfer window.
According to the report Defoe is looking to return to the English Premier League as soon as possible.
The 31-year-old is in the first year of a four-year deal signed earlier this year with Toronto.
