Winnipeg Jets forward TJ Galiardi had laser eye surgery Friday to repair damage sustained from taking a puck near his left eye during practice that morning. The team announced Galiardi regained sight in the eye and will be out at least seven days.
"I can't tell you whether it's a cut or anything more until he sees the right people," Jets coach Paul Maurice told the Winnipeg Free Press on Friday. "It was around (the eye). Speaking from personal experience, those things close up so fast, you're not sure until you get a guy who knows what he's doing to look at it. He walked out of here under his own power. It was in the eye area."
The Jets agreed to terms with Galiardi, 26, on a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000 on Aug. 1. He had 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) in 62 games with the Calgary Flames last season, and has 104 points (43 goals, 61 assists) in 283 games with the Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks and Flames.
