Calgary Flames center Sam Bennett, the fourth pick of the 2014 NHL Draft, skated during a practice session Monday. It was his first time on the ice with the main group at training camp.
Bennett, No. 8 on the NHL.com Top 60 prospect ranking, had been out with a groin injury.
The news wasn't as good for forward Mikael Backlund, who has been unable to skate since camp started due to an abdominal strain.
"I don't have any news to tell you, but I'm worried," coach Bob Hartley said.
Backlund still is listed as day-to-day.
