Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have hit a rough patch after a little more than a year of marriage.
E! News has learned that the famous musicians have been "fighting a lot" and that "they're having a lot of issues."
A source close to the couple explains, "The main issue is this: When they met, they were in work mode. They were doing a collaboration and that's where the attraction stemmed from. She was in the studio and he was producing her. She was also coming off some bad relationships where she didn't really feel appreciated as an artist. She felt she and Chad connected on that level."
And now that "the album didn't do as well as they had hoped…they're finding that they're not seeing eye to eye on a lot of things."
The duo's issues extend beyond their professions, however, and it seems as though trust and timing are two things that Avril and Chad have problems with.
Our insider continued, "There's jealousy on both sides. She flirts, he flirts. She's very insecure to begin with."
Those close to the two of them are worried about what's in store for the future of their marriage.
One thing seems clear, Avril would really like to become a mother, but her rocky relationship leaves her uneasy about starting a family with the Nickelback frontman.
"I don't know what's going to happen. She really wants to have a baby. She was hoping, after this album, to take time off and start a family."
Our source added, "I think for now they're going to try to work it out," saying that a split is the couple's ultimate last resort.
