Toronto FC announced Monday that striker Jermain Defoe has suffered a groin strain and will be out approximately two-to-three weeks.
The team travels to Columbus to meet the Crew on Saturday.
The news comes a day after it was announced that Defoe would miss Wednesday's MLS All-Star Game that pits the League's best against Bayern Munich.
Defoe has scored 11 goals in 15 appearances with Toronto FC this season and has been one of a number of new additions that have the club on pace for their first ever MLS Cup Playoffs berth.
Toronto FC currently sits third in the Eastern Conference with 29 points through 20 games played.
"He's been feeling his groin for a few weeks now," said Toronto FC coach Ryan Nelsen after the club's 2-0 Saturday victory over the Montreal Impact.
"Remember, he's been going for over a year, pushing on. It's just to get these little niggles of your body, being worn down. Hopefully it's nothing too bad, nothing too major."
Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer was been selected to replace Defoe for the All-Star Game.
