Tom Lipinski (Suits) has been promoted from recurring to series regular for Season 2 of Cinemax‘s 10-part series The Knick. Lipinski plays Phillip Showalter, a charming and aristocratic young man whose father is a millionaire rubber king, and who is Cornelia’s suitor. Steven Soderbergh directs and Clive Owens stars in the series set in downtown New York in 1900. It centers on Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. Lipinski, repped by Gersh and Mike Gasparro at TMT Entertainment, just wrapped features Dial A Prayer and The Early Years. The Knick Season 2 debuts on August 8.

Wendy Crewson is set as a recurring in Syfy’s six-hour event series Ascension. Set aboard the starship Ascension, it follows hundreds of men, women and children sent on a century-long covert mission to populate a new world. But as they approach the point of no return 50 years into the journey, the murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission. Crewson, repped by Domain Talent, will play Martha Warren, Harris Enzmann’s (Gil Bellows) boss, an elegant woman with a polished exterior, but a formidable adversary. On the feature side, Crewson has been cast opposite Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood in feature Into The Forest. She also recurs on NBC’s Saving Hope and Working The Engels.
