Nick De Santis is no longer with the Montreal Impact.
RDS.ca's Patrick Friolet reports that the team's sporting director has stepped down effective immediately. The Impact have a press conference scheduled for Wednesday morning at 11am et.
De Santis, a former Canadian international midfielder played 10 seasons for the Impact (1993-1998 and 2000-2003) before managing the team from 2004-2008 back when the club played in the USL. He's been sporting director at the MLS side since February of 2011 after serving the previous four seasons as its technical director. Under DeSants, the Impact captured the Canadian Championship in 2008 and 2013. The team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2009 CONCACAF Champions League and qualified for the MLS playoffs last season, the Impact's second in the league.
The Impact are in the cellar of the Eastern Conference with only 14 points, good for the worst record in the entire league.
The team is next in action on Saturday when it hosts Toronto FC.
