
The Florida Panthers have traded defenceman Mike Weaver to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2015 Draft.
In 55 games with the Panthers this season, Weaver has six assists.
The 35-year-old Weaver is currently in the final year of a two-year deal he signed with the Panthers prior to the 2012-13 season worth an average annual value of $1.1 million.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2000, Weaver has scored seven goals and added 79 assists in 585 career games with the Panthers, Thrashers, Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks and St. Louis Blues.
