The Ottawa Redblacks have signed veteran quarterback Henry Burris.
General manager Marcel Desjardins and head coach Rick Campbell made the announcement Tuesday morning.
"Henry's credentials speak for themselves. His addition to our team's depth chart is a major step for our team and our organization," said Desjardins. "Henry is a true professional both on and off the field and we all know that he will be ready to compete when our training camp begins this spring."
Burris was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday, the same day the club announced the signing of free agent pivot Zach Collaros.
"I'm very excited to make Ottawa my next CFL home," said Burris. "I've heard many great things about the new stadium and how people are getting pumped about football coming back to Ottawa. I'm really looking forward to being part of that scene."
Burris, 38, spent the past two seasons in Hamilton, where he threw for over 10,000 yards. He threw for almost 5,000 yards last season, making 373 completions on 567 attempts.
A two-time Grey Cup winner with the Calgary Stampeders in 1998 and 2008, Burris ranks fourth all-time in both passing yardage (51,526) and touchdown passes (324) in CFL history.
Ottawa will be the fourth stop for Burris in his 15 year CFL career, playing for the Ticats, Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
