The Edmonton Sun recalls how Ryan Whitney was pretty sour leaving the Edmonton Oilers.
In hindsight, Whitney wishes he had taken a higher road out of town.
"I still regret the way I kind of left, some of the things I said," Whitney, now playing for the Florida Panthers, said Monday. "When I said other guys could have been sat, that was probably not the smartest thing or the most professional thing. Looking back, I regret that, because it was me that didn't play well enough.
"It was a frustrating year and at the end, I said some things that I really wish I hadn't said. But I had a great time there, and I know that things didn't end well for me there, but I have a lot of good friends from there and I don't regret being there."
