SOFIA, Bulgaria — Olympic champion Rosie MacLennan led Canada to a berth in the women's team final at the world trampoline and tumbling championships on Thursday.
MacLennan, from Toronto, finished second in a field of 60 competitors to help Canada take third spot overall with 298.480 points. China was first with 304.460 points and Great Britain was second with 299.335.
Samantha Sendel and Samantha Smith, also from Toronto, were sixth and 17th respectively. MacLennan was nursing two sore knees due to a crash landing a week ago in training.
"We all did what we had to do to make the team final," Sendel said. "We pushed through the pressure and just had fun out there."
The team final is set for Friday.
All three Canadians also advanced to the second qualification round in the individual competition. He Wenna of China, the 2008 Olympic champion, finished first in the qualification.
The Canadian men did not make it out of the qualification round. Sebastien St-Germain of Montreal and brothers Kyle and Keegan Soehn of Red Deer, Alta., were 13th overall in the team event.
