Re: [SurroundSound] Neil Young's Pono Player ....

Adobe Audition 3 does it as well.  Adobe was giving the software away free a little while ago, not sure they still are.

Audacity will do that.

Hey,
I'm also  a musician. Can you recommend audio software to slow down the music while keeping pitch?
Thanks, Possum

Exactly, RW.

Thanks Zoop for the totally didactic reply. Made my day.
I was comparing the sound of HDTracks flac files on the AK120 to something everybody's familiar with: 16 bit tracks from CD that have been compressed, usually mp3. Anybody without a horse in the race would surely have been able to understand this, and had no need to stand on a soapbox and pick this reference apart. Would you like to share with us why you've made it your life mission, at least on this board, to attack every single reference to something that might be better than Eighties technology?
For my own information, I've down-converted HD tracks 24/96 files to 16/48 and then MP3 encoded them, and put them on the same device. I'm about 98% accurate picking the mp3 in the first 10 seconds on the tracks that I experimented with. I'll make you a youtube video. God knows what kind of crappy speakers your 'experiments' were conducted on but with good headphones and normal hearing it's an obvious difference.
So please don't tell me that you can scientifically prove what I, Niel Young, The reviewer's daughter from TAS, or Lokerman's wife can or cannot hear. Accept that you either have a tin ear or can't bear to admit that you have a bias.
I'm also a guitar student and for learning a new track it's very helpful to listen to music slowed down. I promise if you spent any time listening to music at half speed the advantages of higher sampling rates would become more apparent to you.
Can we get back to discussing surround sound without having this point-counterpoint?
