According to several reports, including the Twitter feed of Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun, Scotiabank Saddledome has suffered damage from the flooding throughout the city.
Francis tweeted Friday morning that flood waters had submerged the first 10 rows of seats in the arena, which is the home of the Calgary Flames. The arena's dressing rooms also suffered extensive damage and the Jumbotron and other equipment resting on the arena floor were ruined, Francis tweeted.
In addition to the Flames, Saddledome is also home to the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League and the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League.
The Flames have advised employees not to report to Saddledome on Friday because of the state of emergency in the city.
Canadian Forces are deploying 1,200 troops to help in the worst-hit areas of Alberta, including the city. Roughly 100,000 people are set for evacuation in Calgary alone, according to reports.
Across southern Alberta, more than a dozen towns have declared states of emergency and some entire communities were under mandatory evacuation orders.
The Elbow River has already crested and the Bow River was still rising, according to Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi. The region received more than six inches of rain during a slow-moving storm across Wednesday and Thursday.
