GATINEAU, Que. -- Jennifer Abel of Laval, Que., and Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., earned gold and silver on three-metre and Roseline Filion of Laval, Que., and Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal added a silver on 10-metre synchro on Saturday at the 2013 Gillette Canada Cup Grand Prix diving competition.
The event is the third stop on the FINA Grand Prix circuit.
On women's three-metre, Abel produced a top-notch performance totalling 353.40 points averaging 8.0's on four of her five dives in the final. Ware finished with two outstanding dives to take the silver at 341.15 and Dolores Hernandez of Mexico was third at 315.15.
"It's a thrill to win an international event at home," said Abel. "I knew the expectations were high for me but it was a good pressure."
On women's 10-metre synchro, Lian Jie and Huang Xiaohui of China were the winners at 331.50. Filion and Benfeito, the Olympic bronze medallists in London, earned 9.0's on their first two dives en route to second spot at 319.32. Monica Marquez and Karla Rivas of Mexico were third at 296.34.
Filion was coming off a subpar performance on individual 10-metre on Friday.
"I had one of the worst performances of my life on Friday," said Filion. "I saw the synchro is a great opportunity to get some confidence again."
Pamela Ware and her sister Carol-Ann Ware were fourth at 288.66.
On men's tower, Maxim Bouchard of St-Constant, Que., was an impressive fourth in his first career Grand Prix final. Yang Jiian of China won the gold at 547.35, his compatriot Huo Liang was second at 496.40 and Juan Rios Lopera of Colombia third at 450.45.
On men's three-metre synchro, Francois Imbeau-Dulac of St-Lazare, Que., and Marc Sabourin-Germain of Mascouche, Que., were fifth.
Competition ends Sunday.
