JaMarcus Russell, a former first overall pick in the NFL, has lost 50 pounds in an attempt to return to football and is "more than open" to signing with a CFL team.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport appeared on "NFL Total Access" and stated that Russell's goal is to sign with an NFL team in the next four to six weeks, but if that doesn't happen, he would be interested in joining a CFL team
The 27-year-old quarterback is back down to 265 pounds, which is the same weight he was when the Oakland Raiders made him the number one selection in the 2007 NFL Draft..
As of Tuesday, Russell's name was not on the negotiation list for any of the eight CFL clubs. The Calgary Stampeders were the last team to own his rights, but they removed him from their list in February.
Russell last took the field in 2009 as a member of the Raiders. In 31 career games, he completed 52.1 percent of his passses for 4,083 yards, with 18 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.
