OTTAWA – The Montreal Canadiens got a big boost for Game 3 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday when captain Brian Gionta and leading scorer Max Pacioretty returned to the lineup.
Gionta and Pacioretty both sat out Montreal's 3-1 win in Game 2 of the series Friday night with upper-body injuries.
Gabriel Dumont, who played fewer than four minutes Friday, and Jeff Halpern were removed from the Canadiens' lineup.
For the Senators, rookie Cory Conacher was back in the lineup after sitting out Game 2, taking the place of Guillaume Latendresse. On defense, Patrick Wiercioch dressed for the first time in the series, taking the spot of Andre Benoit.
