Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff appears to be off the market.

The 36-year-old Finnish netminder had been central to trade speculation, especially surrounding the possibility of a move to the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, sources indicate that Kiprusoff will stay in Calgary for the duration of 2012-13 and retire at the end of the season.

Although he does not currently possess a no-trade or no-movement clause in his contract, Kiprusoff was believed to be hesitant to leave the Flames, due to the recent birth of his second child.

The Maple Leafs were granted permission to speak with Kiprusoff and his representatives Tuesday and had constant contact with both his agent and Flames general manager Jay Feaster. Kiprusoff's decision to stay in Calgary is believed to have been made Wednesday.

Kiprusoff has posted a 6-10-2 record in 18 games with the Flames this season. He has also posted an .868 save percentage and a 3.64 goals-against average.

He has one year remaining beyond this season on a six-year deal he signed prior to the 2008-09 season worth an average annual value of $5.8333 million. However, his salary for the 2013-14 season is slated to be just $1.5 million.

Kiprusoff has spent the last nine seasons with the Flames after the team acquired him from the San Jose Sharks via trade.

In 617 career games with the Flames and Sharks, Kiprusoff has posted a 317-209-64 record with a 2.48 goals-against average and a .912 career save percentage. He was originally drafted by the Sharks in the fifth round (116th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

He won both the Vezina and William M. Jennings trophies in 2006 and led the Flames to Game 7 of the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals before losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Kiprusoff has represented Finland internationally on several occasions, winning an Olympic bronze medal, two IIHF World Championship silvers and a silver medal at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey.
