A big challenge awaits up-and-coming Canadian teen Eugenie Bouchard on Friday at the Sony Open.

The 19-year-old from Westmount, Quebec beat Shahar Peer of Israel on Wednesday to set up a match with world No. 2 Maria Sharapova.

Bouchard dispatched Peer 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in Key Biscayne, Florida in a first-round match-up. Bouchard also beat Peer last summer in Montreal at the Rogers Cup.

Bouchard will be facing Sharapova for the first time. The Canadian was a champion in both girls singles and doubles at Wimbledon last summer.

Sharapova was the champion last week at Indian Wells, California and has 28 WTA titles to her credit.
