{allcanada} QMJHL: ROCKET CONTINUE SOLID HOME PLAY, TOP SCREAMING EAGLES

The P.E.I. Rocket continued to make good use of home ice on Friday as they edged the visiting Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 2-1 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The Rocket have won eight of their last nine games at the Charlottetown Civic Centre and are 17-7-1 overall on home ice. Their .700 winning percentage is fourth best in the QMJHL while 17 victories is the third most of any club in the league.

Louick Marcotte scored his 18th goal of the season for P.E.I. (28-20-2) and Jack Nevin's seventh goal of the campaign stood up as the game winner.

Charles-Eric Legare scored the lone goal for Cape Breton (10-33-8), which is a league-worst 4-17-4 on the road.

Maxime Lagace stopped 24-of-25 shots for the win as David Honzik, who was the game's first star, turned away 44 shots in a losing cause.

Both clubs went 0 for 2 on the power play.

The Rocket have downed the Screaming Eagles in each of their last four meetings and have outscored them 19-5 in the process. Cape Breton has also dropped five games in a row and haven't earned a point since a 2-1 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Jan. 22nd.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Quebec 5, Drummondville 2; Rouyn-Noranda 4, Sherbrooke 2; Halifax 3, Baie-Comeau 1; Blainville-Boisbriand 2, Victoriaville 1; Acadie-Bathurst 3, Chicoutimi 2 (SO); Gatineau 6, Saint John 3; Rimouski 5, Val-d'Or 4 and Moncton 2, Shawinigan 1 (OT).

At Charlottetown, Marcotte opened the scoring for P.E.I. 6:20 into the first period.

Legare responded for Cape Breton at 9:18 with his eighth goal of the year, however Nevins scored the eventual winner just over two minutes later.

At Quebec City, Brent Turnbull scored twice and Francois Brassard stopped 38-of-40 shots as the Remparts (29-17-3) downed Drummondville (26-19-4) for just their third win at home in their last 10 contests.

At Sherbrooke, Que., Sven Andrighetto scored once and set up two more while Gabriel Desjardins had a goal and an assist as Rouyn-Noranda (30-19-1) doubled up the Phoenix (14-30-6),

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Jonathan Drouin had a goal and an assist, which extends his point streak to 12 games, and Zachary Fucale turned aside 34-of-35 shots as Halifax (41-5-3) beat the Drakkar (34-13-4), who lost for the first time in four outings.

At Boisbriand, Que., Etienne Marcoux made 26 saves and Nikita Jevpalovs scored the winning goal with less than six minutes to play in the third period as the Armada (29-14-6) slipped past Victoriaville (20-22-8), which lost in regulation for the first time in four games.

At Chicoutimi, Que., Christophe Lalancette scored the shootout winner and Mason McDonald stopped 51 shots as Acadie-Bathurst (20-26-6) handed the Sagueneens (24-24-5) their fourth loss in a row.

At Gatineau, Que., Martin Reway and Derek Sheppard each scored twice and Tomas Hyka had three assists as the Olympiques (22-24-3) doubled up Saint John (19-30-0), which is winless in five games.

At Rimouski, Que., Alexis Loiseau scored two goals and Scott Oke had a goal and an assist as the Oceanic (34-11-5) extended their winning streak to nine games by downing Val-d'Or (26-21-3).

Wildcats 2 Cataractes 1 (OT)

At Shawinigan, Que., Alex Saulnier scored the winning goal 2:46 into overtime and Alex Dubeau made 32 saves as Moncton (33-16-1) doubled up the Cataractes (11-32-6) for their ninth straight win.
